Newcastle United will face off against rival Sunderland on Saturday, placing two of the English Premier League's closely followed teams against each other.

Newcastle United, coming out of a 0-0 tie with Norwich City, is expected to be the favorite in the match.

Newcastle United Manager Alan Pardew said he is unsure whether he can seal a deal for Lyon's Clément Grenier, The Guardian reports.

"Six months out from the World Cup, is a hasty departure just days before the end of the transfer market a good option? It's not a certainty. Lyon are starting to find their true colours and Clément didn't want to leave the club during the season," he said, according to the site.

"The conditions of his departure weren't creating a favourable context for his development. Clément would be arriving at Newcastle not as Clément Grenier but as a replacement for Yohan Cabaye."

Sunderland, coming out of a 1-0 victory over Stoke City, is expected to be the underdog in the match.

Sunderland Manager Gus Poyet said his team can remain confident for the derby, the Shields Gazette reports.

"After the last two months, this is the best time for us to play a derby," Poyet said, according to the site.

"That doesn't mean we're going to win it, but with the wins we've had, the atmosphere, the players we've got available, the situation, how we've been playing away from home - everything is there."
