Philip Seymour Hoffman Dead Prompted Touching Statement From ‘Hunger Games’ Cast; ‘Mockingjay’ Movie Premiere To Be Delayed As Crew Searches For New Plutarch Heavensbee?

Philip Seymour Hoffman's death prompted the cast and crew member of 'The Hunger Games' to issue a joint statement. Philip Seymour Hoffman's death shocked the team for the actor played a pivotal role in 'Catching Fire' as game maker turned ally Plutarch Heavensbee.

"Words cannot convey the devastating loss we are all feeling right now. Philip was a wonderful person and an exceptional talent, and our hearts are breaking. Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to his family," said the statement.

One of Lionsgate's spokespersons also expressed the company's grief for the demise of the 46-year-old actor: "Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We're very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip's family."

Philip Seymour Hoffman died last February 2 in his apartment in New York City. Although the cause of his death is yet to be released, authorities believe that drug overdose took away his life. When the actor's friend found him on the bathroom floor, the 'Capote' star allegedly had a syringe in his arm.

Although Hoffman has already finished his scenes in the first part of 'Mockingjay', he still had one week left for the filming of the film's second part. According to Variety, his death would not delay the release dates of the movies.

However, there is a big possibility that changes to his character will be implemented for he wasn't able to complete filming. His latest project, 'Happyish', will likewise find a new actor.
