CNN Star Park Ji Min, Ready to Become a World K-Pop Star?

Park Ji Min garnered attention worldwide with her cover of Adele’s ‘Rolling in The Deep’ as it was featured on CNN. SBS ‘K-Pop Star’ first season winner was announced to be Park Ji Min, the audition program made headlines for including 3 largest K-Pop label representatives as judges and winner is to receive professional training along worldwide album debut with one of the 3 labels.

How did she become a K-Pop star?

Park Ji Min captivated the audiences and judges alike through her amazing vocals even at such a young age. However her path to victory was not a smooth sail throughout the journey, she faced crisis of almost being voted off the show.

Especially during the competition of deciding the top finalists to compete on the live stage she fought for the last spot alongside Son Mi Jin, which was a clos cut. However the judges concluded Park Ji Min to have a bigger growth potential and was the last final live contestant to be decided.

Once live auditions began Park Ji Min has continuously ranked in the upper ranks amongst the judges score. The performance of singing the Wizard of Oz’s OST ‘Over the Rainbow’ during the top 7 competition was praised to be the best among the live performances.

She was awarded the closest to a nearly perfect score at 299 which remains to be the highest score received even till now as ‘K-Pop Star’ concludes the first season.

In the final round Park Ji Min performed Lim Jeong Hee’s ‘Music is My Life’ received a score of 292 and Duffy’s ‘Mercy’ was awarded 295, which was only one point ahead of her competitor Lee Ha Yi.

In the midst of this cliffhanger the winner was announced to be Park Ji Min. The direction of the winner seems to be decided by the text message votes received only during the show.

Park Ji Min not only became the winner of ‘K-Pop Star’ but has also earned two titles of being the very first. She became the first female as well as the young winner in an audition program in Korea. There’s a keen interest to see how Park Ji Min who survived through the tough competition as a young girl, will truly become a ‘K-Pop Star.’
