iOS 8 Rumors, Release Date: Upcoming New Version Of Mobile Coming This July W/ iPhone 6; Goal For New Apple iOS Is To Redefine Mobile Health; ‘Healthbook’ App Expected

iOS 8 rumors, release date: The Apple mobile’s platform next iteration will focus on mobile health and maybe launched together with the highly-anticipated and new year version of the iPhone, the iPhone 6. Both were predicted to be announced at the upcoming WWDC event by the company.

Tech analyst Abhey Lambda predicted that the next Apple flagship smartphone will have the newest version of iOS. A key objective of the upcoming iOS, rumors suggest, is to redefine mobile health.

“Recently, the company has been introducing new lineup in September time frame whereas the next generation phones could come out in July this year,” Lambda noted, who delivered research to his clients earlier this week.

“The earlier launch will be helpful for Apple as it will ensure significant availability and distribution of the new device during the holiday season"

A report by 9to5Mac noted that the iOS 8 will include a Healthbook app. The Apple-focused blog said that the software will be capable of monitoring and storing fitness statistics such as steps taken, calories burned, and miles walked. It will also have the ability to manage and track weight loss. “Healthbook,” 9to5 Mac noted will be a pre-installed challenger to similar apps by Nike and Fitbit.

According to a report by tech site Tweak Town, the analyst believes that previous rumors of a big screen for the iPhone 6 is true. It’s rumored that the unit will launch with a 4.7-inch display, while another Apple phablet will be released witha 5.5-inch screen. Lambda added that he thinks the iOS 8 will feature enhancements that will open up Apple’s secure TouchID fingerprint scanners to developers.

Citing insider sources, 9to5Mac said that the software will also allow users to enter details about their medications and will remind them to take pills at scheduled times. The new app is expected to integrate with the existing Reminders app in the current iOS.

The 2014 version of Apple’s mobile OS is said to be under development with the codename “Okemo.”
