‘The Crew’ Release Date For PS4, Xbox One And PC Slated For Fall 2014; Racing Game From Ubisoft To Feature Microtransactions [GAMEPLAY TRAILER]

The official "The Crew" release date has finally been announced.

Set to arrive for PS4, Xbox One and PC, a more specific timeframe for "The Crew" release date has been revealed. Although, the exact The Crew release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC was not disclosed yet, Ubisoft recently revealed that it will launch this fall 2014.

Aside from the update regarding The Crew release date for PS4, Xbox One and PC, it was also announced that it will support microtransactions, a feature found in other racing games. Describing this feature, the post of Gamespot reads:

The Crew's microtransaction system will let you buy new performance parts with real money. Of course, you can unlock these items through standard progression. Ubisoft says the paid performance parts are aimed at players who might be pressed for time.

According to a Ubisoft representative, as posted on VideoGamer, "We can confirm that performance parts can be unlocked through progression as well as microtransactions. All content can be unlocked through progression, but for busy gamers who want to save some time, they will have the opportunity to buy some items in-game."

Furthermore, as reported on Videogamer, the system for the microtransaction seems to be similar to the monetization model available in various free-to-play games in which players can earn in-game credits by accomplishing missions or "short-cutting the process by purchasing currency with real cash."

Some video games that also feature microtransactions are Sony PS3 game "Gran Turismo 6" and Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One.

The system appears to be similar to the monetisation model found in many free-to-play games, with players able to earn in-game credits by completing missions and challenges, or short-cutting the process by purchasing currency with real cash.

Running in native 1080p at 30fps both for PS4 and Xbox One, The Crew is now available for pre-order. Players can choose from 2 versions- the Limited Edition and the Muscle Edition. The former will bring in early access to various cars like the Mini Cooper S and BMW Z4 sDrive32is, while the latter, which is only available at GameStop, "will include everything from the LE, as well as early access to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT." Limited Edition and Muscle Edition also brings in 10000 bonus "Crew Credits," as reported on GameSpot.
