HTC One (M8) Is Not What The Company Needs To Regain Traction In Android Market, Report Points To Midrange Desire Lineup As HTC's Best Hope

HTC One M8: HTC has recently been on the top of the world days before the launch of its newest flagship - the One (M8). However, that top is only as far as hype is concerned. Now that the dust has settled, is the new high-end device worth the wait? Moreover, would it be able to meet the company's expectations of becoming HTC's savior? 

As far as a report from Android Authority is concerned, the HTC One M8 becoming the manufacturer's best selling phone and eventually being able to raise HTC from the ashes, is highly improbable. 

While most news sites, including The New York Times blame the company's poor marketing strategy, the report says otherwise. 

No, it's not marketing. It's the price. 

An example of the smartphone market growth in India revealed that most of the international brands only share a small piece of the market. And while Samsung is still enjoying a large chunk of the Indian mobile market, hot on its heels are two Indian-based manufacturers. 

And what do these two companies have in common? They do not have a million dollar marketing campaign, nor do they provide high-end devices and smartphones. Instead, they offer cheap Android handsets with forgivable and sometimes even decent specs. 

In the same way, HTC does not need a high-end flagship to bank on in order to increase its market share and become relevant in the smartphone competition once more. It only needs to improve its midrange lineup. 

In March, the company released the Desire 801 in China, and from the looks of it - it is said to be selling like pancakes. In a report, it even managed to sell 50,000 units in just 10 minutes. 

HTC is known for its design and build quality, and the company should use that to its advantage. Launching a gorgeous-looking midrange device at such an attractive price point is the key to HTC's rebirth in this industry.
