Carrie Underwood New Album In the Works? Country Star Had a Busy Week, Sang at Linda Ronstadt Tribute, Premiered New Song, Hit No. 1 On Country Countdown

Carrie Underwood is having a good week. The country star announced she's working on a new album, Carrie lent her pipes to Linda Ronstadt's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction and premiered a new song.

Carrie Underwood also kept her perch at No. 1 on Top 20 Country Countdown with her "Blown Away Medley!"

According to a tweet by Radio.com, Carrie Underwood has been getting back to her first true love, songwriting. The "American Idol" winner has been writing songs "a lot lately" and she says "it's going well!"

Underwood hasn't released an album since 2012′s "Blown Away." Carrie wrote eight  of the 14 songs on that album. "Good Girl" hit No. 1 on the charts.

Country superstar Carrie Underwood debuted a new song at the ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops event on Monday. Underwood co-wrote "Keep Us Safe" with with Luke Laird, Hillary Lindsey and Shane McAnally especially for the event.

Carrie Underwood represented country when she joined Sheryl Crow and other rock and roll luminaries who paid tribute to Linda Ronstadt at her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Thursday night.

Carrie Underwoood and Crow, who put out her first full country album last year, joined Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Glenn Frey and country legend Emmylou Harris in a musical tribute to Ronstadt, who was one of the first true crossover female superstars of country and rock and roll.

Linda Ronstadt transcended genre, tackling Latin music and Broadway as well. Ronstadt's hit include "Blue Bayou," "Silver Threads and Golden Needles," "Heart Like a Wheel," Elvis Costello's "Allison," Chuck Berry's "Back in the U.S.A." and 'When Will I Be Loved." She had her first hit with the band The Stone Poneys on the song "Different Drum," written by Michael Nesmith of the Monkees.

Linda couldn't appear because she has Parkinson's disease and that makes it difficult for her to travel.

Ronstadt was inducted by Fellow Hall of Famer Glenn Frey, who played guitar in her band in the early '70s with Don Henley, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner before they split to form the Eagles.

Also inducted this year were Cat Stevens, the E Street Band, Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, KISS, Hall & Oates,  Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, and Beatles manager Brian Epstein. The Hall of Fame inductions will air as an HBO special starting May 31.
