Gionee Elife S5.5 price, review: Specs of the $374 Android handset includes a 5.5mm-thick body and a 1.78 GHz octa-core processor. According to Know Your Mobile, the handset that is considered the “world’s slimmest smartphone” is “for the fashion conscious with not so deep pockets.”

The Gionee Elife S5.5 was announced at a price of $374, but actual pricing of the unit will vary in India once the unit is unveiled in the country on March 31. The Gionee smartphone will be available in at least 40 countries and consumers will have an option to get the 4G LTE version of the device, which will be available on June 2014.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 is a single-SIM handset and runs the Amigo UI on top of its Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, NDTV reported. Specs of the unit include a 5-inch display, the resolution and display quality of which is still unknown. Camera features of the handset include a 13-megapixel shooter with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front camera available for video calls.

Inbuilt storage for the Gionee Elife S5.5 is 16GB and no memory expansion is available. Battery for the smartphone is a 2300 mAh battery that is also seen on the flagship, Elife E7. The handset can last a day with heavy usage thanks to HMP (heterogenous multi-processing), according to Know Your Mobile. HMP saves battery by sipping the power while the device is on sleep mode.

Dimensions of the device is 45.1x70.2x5.55mm and it weighs 130 grams. It’s 5.5mm thickness probably makes it as one of the slimmest smartphone in the world.

Connectivity options for the unit include 3G, Wi-Fi, 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, and USB OTG. The Gionee Elife S5.5 is available in black, white, pink, blue and purple.

Know Your Mobile notes that based on its specs and design, rivals of the Gionee Elife S5.5 includes the Micromax Canvas Knight, Wickedleak Wammy Passion X, Intex Aqua Octa, Moto X, and the Xolo Q3000.
