‘Frozen' Movie Sequel Not Happening? No Talks Of Sequel At Disney! Director Will Work On 'Something Else!' Will We Ever See Elsa, Anna And Olaf Again?

"Frozen" has already crossed the billion dollar mark. From a financial standpoint, a sequel would be a no-brainer and fans (especially the kids) are already waiting for the next chapter in the story of Queen Elsa, Princess Ana and Olaf the Snowman.

However, co-director Chris Buck just doused some cold water on the fiery expectations of the movies' fans in his interview with Yahoo UK:

"Everyone's asking if there will be a 'Frozen 2', but at the Studio there's been absolutely no talk about it. Jen [Lee] and I will start working on something different in the upcoming months, and then development will begin, but no word on a sequel!"

One thing we took from his statements is that Disney intends to keep his working tandem with co-director Jennifer Lee intact. Buck is all praises but he also appreciates the brief hiatus: "We need a break! But I'd love to [work with Jen again]. She brought so much to the characters preventing them from being cliché. Sometimes I thought 'a female might do this' and she'd suggest a twist or something not as stereotypical. She was instrumental in finding a fresh take on Elsa and Anna."

It does not mean that there will NEVER be a sequel, though. Buck places his statements in perspective. He cites the new creative influence of former Pixar head and now Disney creative director John Lasseter:

"John Lasseter has always said it's up to the filmmakers. If they feel there's another story to tell and one that's equal to the first, then the studio will support it, as will John. He's there to guide us to the best story we can get. It has to be our passion to do another, seeing as they take three or four years! If there's a story we feel passionate about then the Studio would support us."

Lasseter, even from his Pixar days always maintained high standards. He will not exploit a film's popularity just for profit. Despite strong demands for sequels, Pixar took all the time they need to make "Toy Story 2 & 3." The series spanned 15 years in total.

Will the stiff, icy stand of Disney cave in to the scorching anticipation of its viewers to bring a "Frozen" sequel? In the words of Olaf the Snowman: "Some people are worth melting for."
