‘X-Men Days Of Future Past' Director Bryan Singer Under Wraps! Anna Paquin's Rogue To Appear In Cameo?

The recent rape allegation involving "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" director Bryan Singer weeks before the movie's opening did not really sabotage the movie, but Fox decided to keep him under wraps to minimize the distraction.

Writer Simon Kinberg took over the reins of the X-Men Panel at the WonderCon festival. The beleaguered director was even scheduled to take the stage, last Saturday, but it was cancelled.

The LA Times recounted: "Notably, no audience questions were allowed during the "X-Men" portion of Fox's arena presentation.

Kinberg avoided mention of any controversy, kicking things off with the dark and thrilling scene that recalled Singer's mastery of depicting multiple mutant powers interacting effectively in a quick action sequence."

While Fox avoided the big controversy, Kinberg could not avoid addressing another one. The question about Rogue was brought by Crave Online, to which Kinberg replied:

"It's kind of a hard question. We shot with Anna [Paquin] a big subplot in the movie and we watched it in the movie and then we cut it out of the movie because, she's great in it and it was well shot, it just didn't fit the film. It was a subplot that I created sort of as an appendage to the movie because I wanted to do something else that didn't serve the main plot of the film."

It was hinted that the scene involved a rescue mission, and they had to cut it because the movie's running time was too long already. Kinberg provides further context for the scene:

"I just wanted to see Ian [McKellan] and Patrick [Stewart] on a mission together. So I took them away from the main plot of the movie so that they could go off and do something, and she was the MacGuffin of that mission. It was a perfectly fine 10 minutes of the film that didn't fit the film. So we pulled her out of the movie and pulled that plot out of the film. I can't speak to any other rumors about any other way she could appear in the film, but I can tell you that the main plot that we shot with her, we pulled out of the movie."

It would be best to give it a rest, Anna Paquin fans. The director and the writer have confirmed that she will not see any screen time.

But there are about thirty other mutants who will when "X-Men: Days of Future Past" releases on May 23!
