Samsung Galaxy S5 Could Have A Premium Version After All Dubbed As Project KQ, Rumored Specs Include QHD Display, LTE, Varying Chipsets For Each Region

Samsung Galaxy S5: Months before the Galaxy S5 was unveiled, the entire tech industry became excited to hear rumors that Samsung is geared to launch a metal-clad flagship device.

Unfortunately, all those hopeful fans, bloggers and enthusiasts were all greeted by a plastic-covered S5. And to make things worse, the Korean manufacturer decided to include the 'dot matrix' design.

While the Galaxy S5's internals are certainly impressive, you cannot help but wonder if its outer design has earned it any points in the war against other Android flagships.

But in a new report by GSM Arena, Samsung and Android fans may not find the need to choose among different manufacturers, especially if they find out that there is a premium version of the flagship smartphone after all.

Dubbed as Project KQ, the premium-built Galaxy S5 is said to sport the same 5.2-inch display, but with a much higher-end QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution. Unfortunately, there are still no rumors yet whether it is going to be Super AMOLED or not.

In the report, the upcoming Android monster phone is rumored to get varying chipsets based on the region where it would be released. As for South Korea, it would reportedly get the octa-core Exynos 5430 chipset, while the US variant would most likely run on Snapdragon 805.

Like the original Galaxy S5, the premium edition would most likely get the same 2GB of RAM, quad-core CPUs (depending on region), a 16MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, a fingerprint sensor, a heart rate monitor, and water and dust resistance.

In addition, the premium version of the Galaxy S5 is said to pack LTE support, and a new HEVC video decoder.

While there are no additional details yet, we expect this premium version to be announced several months from now.
