Kellan Lutz ‘Tarzan’ Trailer Features An Altered King Of The Jungle Cry; ‘I Didn’t Realize How Difficult It Was Gonna Be,’ Said Hunk

The Kellan Lutz 'Tarzan' trailer sheds light to the difficulties the 29-year-old hunk has to undergo in order to master the famed primal cry of the King of the Jungle. In the newest motion capture animation of the classic movie, the 'Twilight' had to recreate the cry since the rights of the original one was owned by creator Edgar Rice Burroughs.

The 'Legend of Hercules' actor explained the preparations which he did: "So for about a month and a half of shooting we didn't have the specific cry nailed down. And then on one of the last days they finally perfected the one that they wanted and they were like, 'here this is what it is, listen to it.' And then I only did it one time that I did it. And I don't remember it. It's very similar, but we couldn't do it just the same."

Apart from exercising his vocal chords, Lutz needed to flex his muscles in order for him to successfully mimic how the apes act. To prove his dedication for the role, he went to the zoo and had a close encounter with the apes.

"I didn't realise how difficult it was gonna be. I went to the zoo and studied the movements of apes and chimpanzees, studied the vocal calls they have, their language. Every animal walks in a distinct different way. Humans we lead by our chin or our stomach or our chest, we pull out from the heels, push off with our toes," he said.

He describes Tarzan's action as a combination of a graceful ballerina and an alert boxer who's always ready to pounce.

Regardless of how difficult the experience is, Lutz even managed to joke: "I loved it but I've never been more sore, especially running on all fours I'm not super flexible, I should have done more yoga growing up!"

Kellan Lutz 'Tarzan' release date is on May 2.
