George R.R. Martin’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Sexual Violence Can’t Be Omitted? Author’s Assistant Working Closely With Telltale Games For Series’ Video Game

George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" sexual violence pales in comparison to what can be found in a history book in libraries so they shouldn't be omitted just because they make some people uncomfortable. His assistant, meanwhile, is consulting on the upcoming video game for Telltale Games.

"Certain scenes are meant to be uncomfortable, disturbing, hard to read," he said in answer to the question fielded by the New York Times.

He said the artist has an obligation to point people toward the truth, even if his novels are grounded on fantasy they are inspired by history.

"Rape and sexual violence have been a part of every war ever fought, from the ancient Sumerians to our present day. To omit them from a narrative centered on war and power (as in the case of George R.R. Martin's 'Game of Thrones') would have been fundamentally false and dishonest," he said.

George R. R. Martin's "Game of Thrones" is based on his best-selling novel "Song of Ice and Fire" which also features graphic sexual violence. He said that from the early part of his career, it has always been his style to "show, don't tell" when it comes to writing.

When there's a sex scene or rape, the author claimed that he wants to be as graphic as possible and whether some critics find them titillating, that's more the fault of the critics than the book.

As for HBO's "Game of Thrones," George R. R. Martin said that it's out of his hands as that's up to the producers to "make their own artistic choices.

Meanwhile, Ty Corey Franck, the personal assistant of the best-selling author, has been tapped as a consultant for the upcoming "Game of Thrones" video game, said the New York Times.

Comicbook.com also added that the "Game of Thrones" video game will cover a new tale and will not follow the trajectory of the HBO series hit.
