London Has Fallen’ Cast Gerard Butler Lets Go Of ‘Point Break;’ ‘Olympus’ Sequel Hits Theaters In October 2015

"London Has Fallen" cast Gerard Butler is officially out of remake of the 1991 classic "Point Break." His next film, the "Olympus Has Fallen" sequel, will hit theaters in October 2015.

Gerard Butler was supposed to play Bodhi, a surfer and leader of the ex-presidents gang, so-called because they wear masks of former US presidents when robbing banks, originally played by the late Patrick Swayze.

The film was directed by Katherine Bigelow, James Cameron's ex-wife who won the Academy award for her film, "Hurt Locker."

"London Has Fallen" cast Gerard Butler played a surfer before in "Chasing Mavericks" as Frosty Hesson, a former surfing legend who helps Jay Moriarity (Jonny Weston) in his quest to survive the Mavericks surf break.

According to Hollywood Reporter, "London Has Fallen" cast Gerard Butler dropped "Point Break" because of "creative differences" as well as conflict in schedule. The remake will begin production in late June but the "300" actor also has the "Olympus" sequel, which will be shot almost entirely in London.

With Gerard Butler out in "Point Break," it's not yet clear on who will replace him. The new film, however, will be helmed by Ericson Core and written by Kurt Wimmer.

The right to distribute the "Olympus Has Fallen" sequel was acquired by Focus Features which set the release date on October 2, 2015.

According to Variety, "London Has Fallen" will go up against 20th Century Fox's "Frankenstein," which stars James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe. The latter is a retelling of Mary Shelley's horror novel about scientist Victor Frankenstein.

"London Has Fallen" cast Gerald Butler has already committed to reprise his role as disgraced agent Mike Banning. The "300" actor will also executive produce the new film. It's not clear if Antoine Fuqua, the director of the first film, will come back to helm the "Olympus Has Fallen" sequel.
