Katherine Heigl’s New Show ‘State Of Affairs’ Gives ‘Scandal’ A Run For Its Money? NBC’s New Show Finally Marks Former ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Actress’ TV Return

Katherine Heigl's new show "State of Affairs" is seeking to give "Scandal" a run for its money as the new series on NBC marked the return of the former "Grey's Anatomy" actress.

"The State of Affairs" was picked up by NBC and will mark Katherine Heigl's return since the successful run of "Grey's Anatomy."

Katherine Heigl's new show will have the actress play as analyst Charlie Tucker, who makes a living out of counseling the President on matters with geo-political repercussions while also trying to make sense of her personal life. She also has a personal relationship with the President (Alfre Woodward) because her son was onced engaged to Charlie Tucker before a terror attack claimed his life.

Aside from preparing the President's daily briefs, Charlie Tucker also wants revenge.

According to TV Fanatic, Katherine Heigl's new show "State of Affairs" is similar to "Scandal" although it's "likely a tad less insane."

In a statement submitted to different press outfits in January, the actress said: "The story is not only compelling and intelligent but a look behind the curtain at the CIA we haven't seen before in film or television."

"I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life. NBC has been a true partner in their passion and support for the show that we've dreamed of making and I could not be happier about joining forces with them," the statement added.

Meanwhile, Deadline reported that Katherine Heigl's new show "State of Affairs" needs another showrunner with the departure of Alexi Hawley (who penned the script) and Joe Carnahan, who is busy with another critically acclaimed show "The Blacklist."

Tom Szentgyorgyi's name is being floated around as the possible replacement if "The Mentalist" will finally end its run.

Katherine Heigl hasn't had a TV show, except for a few cameos here and there, after "Grey's Anatomy" and Hollywood Reporter offered a reason why.

According to the tabloid mag, Katherine Heigl has been having difficulty landing work because of her "diva" attitude.
