‘Thor 3’ Plot Spoilers: Surtur Teased In 'Thor: The Dark World' And Appear As The Next Villain! Will He Conspire With Loki To Use The Tesseract?

The speculations for Thor 3 have started. Aside from Loki sitting on the Throne of Asgard, there was another Easter egg that teases the villains and the possible events for the Three-quel.

Eagle-eyed viewers have pointed out the sighting of a fiery realm during the Convergence-the grand but chaotic climax to the grand plan of Malekith.

ScreenRant gives the lowdown: "The fiery realm seen for just a few seconds is in fact Muspelheim, the home of Surtur and his army of Fire Demons. Standing over 1,000 feet tall, and capable of unleashing unstoppable attacks with his Sword of Doom, Surtur is as close to a walking apocalypse as you can get. With power even Thor can't challenge, this tiny window into his world posed more of a risk than most will realize."

There is already a nagging suspicion that Surtur has made his move-at least through his minions which is actually his common modus oparandi in the comics. The main villain of "The Dark World" Malekith, is said to be just a minion of Surtur.

It is also very viable that Surtur is also responsible for the disappearance of Odin. As we have seen in the last scene of the sequel, it is no longer Odin on the throne but Loki. How could Loki pull that off? If he indeed kill Odin, that would not have been easy. Loki has been plotting that for most of his life and he has failed. He must have had outside help.

From What Culture, sitting on the throne of Asgard has its implications: "He has access to the Tesseract, authority to instruct the warriors of Asgard to do whatever he pleases and is in a position to represent Asgard all over the known universe in the same way Odin did for so long.

Loki's craving for power will not stop at the throne of his home realm. He will look to wage war on other realms in order to lord over as many beings as possible - and that means the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe could be at risk."

If Surtur did help Loki ascend to the throne, there must be a payback. Logic points to the Tesseract-the most valuable item in Asgard's keep.

Exciting times are ahead for the fans of the Thunder god and even the fans of Loki. Marvel is really preparing for a grand finish to the projected trilogy. We might even see an extended run!
