Steve Kerr Golden State Warriors: NBA Champion Doesn't Join Knicks, Signs 5-Year $25 Million Deal To Coach Warriors

Steve Kerr Golden State Warriors: The coach the Knicks have been negotiating with for weeks now ends up not signing with New York in favor of the Warriors, who just fired a coach that led them to a 50-plus win season.

The former NBA champion with the Chicago Bulls has been commentating with TNT for the past few seasons after he stepped down as the general manager of the Phoenix Suns. Steve Kerr's name all of a sudden became the possibility with the Knicks after Phil Jackson became in charge of basketball operations.  Now, he signs a five-year, $25 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, his agent Mike Tannenbaum announced.

Kerr called the offer to coach the Knicks a "tantalizing" opportunity. He said it was "agonizing" to say no to Jackson "because of what I think of him and what he's done for my career."

"I told Phil, 'I think I have to pursue this other opportunity,"' Kerr told the website. "He gave me his blessing. He said. 'Go look at it, and do what was in my heart."'

He'll be coaching the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, David Lee and others. That right there could have been more tantalizing than what the Knicks have, which could be no Carmelo Anthony.
