Medical Officials Claim Samsung Chairman Lee Kun Hee’s ‘Health Is Steadily Improving’: Wife And Daughters Keep Vigil At Tech Magnate’s Bedside
Samsung Chairman Lee Kun Hee was hospitalized at the Samsung Medical Center in Seoul on the night of May 10 due to a heart attack.
Lee Kun Hee's family has continued to stay by his side as he undergoes surgical procedures and treatment.
Lee's wife, Hong Ra-Hee, the director of Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art, has stayed with the Samsung Chairman since he underwent a stent placement procedure on May 11, according to Korean news publication News Tomato.
"Hong Ra-Hee hasn't left the hospital and was seen going back and forth from the 3rd floor where the intensive care unit is and the 20th floor where the VIP hospital rooms are," stated an associate for the Samsung Group.
Other than the medical team, only Lee Kun Hee's family and a handful of business associates have been allowed entrance to the Chairman's hospital room.
Lee Kun Hee's two daughters, Lee Bu-jin, the president of Shilla Hotel, and Lee Su-hyun, the president of Samsung Everland's Fashion Department, have continued to stay by the Chairman's side as well.
An associate for Shilla Hotel stated that Lee Bu-jin hasn't been able to give a date of when she'll return to work yet.
Lee's son, Lee Jae-yong, who is currently the vice president for Samsung Electronics, has been going back and forth from the hospital and the company's headquarters in Seocho-gu.
Samsung Group officials and medical professionals at the Samsung Medical Center have reportedly been trying to keep updates on Lee's health as minimal as possible.
There have allegedly been rumors of emergency reports circulating on May 15 in regards to the Samsung Chairman's health, stating that he is in "critical condition," according to Korean news publication Poli News.
"The Samsung Chairman, who has been admitted due to a heart attack, has undergone surgical procedures and his condition has been steadily improving," stated officials at the Samsung Medical Center in response to the false reports.
After completing about 60 hours of low-temperature treatment, Lee Kun Hee is now undergoing mild sedation treatment.
Officials at the Samsung Medical Center revealed that they're putting priority on fully recovering his physical health through mild sedation treatment so the Chairman can safely return to consciousness.
