Harrison Ford ‘Blade Runner’ Sequel: Producers Put Out a Call for Harrison Ford; If They Can't Get Him, How About His Replicant?

Harrison Ford coming back to Blade Runner? Harrison Ford is on record as saying he's not a fan of Blade Runner. There were reports that Ford didn't get along with director Ridley Scott, who is helming the sequel. Maybe they can get Sherrif Dearborn from True Blood, the actor William Sanderson, to make a replicant.

According to published reports, Alcon Entertainment wants Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel. The Blade Runner sequel will be directed by Ridley Scott, who helmed the original.

According to Alcon executives Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson "We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project."

There was no reported response from Harrison Ford's people, but duringan "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit, Harrison Ford said  "I'm quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another. If it's a good script, I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again. He's a very talented and passionate filmmaker, and I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character."

The Blade Runner sequel will be written by Hampton Fancher, who was the co-writer of the screenplay of the original1982 science fiction classic, and Michael Green. Producers are keeping the Blade Runner sequel story a tightly guarded secret, but we know it will be set decades after the conclusion of the original Blade Runner, which took place in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

Alcon has been working on the Blade Runner sequel for more than three years. In 2011 they announced that they secured film, TV and ancillary franchise rights to produce Blade Runner prequels and sequels. Ridley Scott announced he will direct the Blade Runner sequel in August 2011.

Rutger Hauer played the leader of a group of escaped "replicants," which are genetically engineered androids, in the original. Harrison Ford's character is a "blade runner," a cop who kills replicants.

Blade Runner was a box office disaster in 1982, opening with $6.2 million in June of 1982. Blade Runner was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 1993.
