Bob Dylan New Album 2014: Bob Dylan Drops New Single of An Old Frank Sinatra Tune

Bob Dylan unveiled the first song from his new album and it's already a classic.

The "Like a Rolling Stone" singer posted a cover of "Full Moon & Empty Arms," which was a hit for Frank Sinatra in 1945.

There was no advance warning on before Bob Dylan posted his take on Frank Sinatra's 1945 hit cover "Full Moon and Empty Arms" on his website.

"Full Moon and Empty Arms" was written by Ted Mossmann and Buddy Kaye and based around Sergei Rachmaninoff's 1901 composition "Piano Concert No. 2 in C Minor." It has also been covered by Robert Goulet and seminal rock and roll group The Platters. Sinatra's rendition remains the most famous.

The versions aren't that different. Dylan replaced country guitars for Sinatra's orchestral backing.

One of Dylan's people told Rolling Stone magazine, "This track is definitely from a forthcoming album due later on this year."

The spokesperson wouldn't confirm an album title, but Dylan recently posted an image of himself to his website with the phrase "Shadows in the Night."

The new album is rumored to be filled with period standards and the image looks like the ones made by graphic designer Reid Miles for the Blue Note jazz label.

Dylan's last official album, "Tempest" was released in 2012

Bob Dylan is set to embark on the European leg of his Never Ending Tour June 16th in Cork, Ireland. It runs through July 17th in Pori, Finland.
