‘The Wolverine 3’ Cast: Hugh Jackman Wants More!! Aussie Feels Fresh Again After Cancer Operation! Will Play Logan ‘As Long As Fans Want Him!’

Hugh Jackman has hinted on retiring from the iconic Wolverine role, and that the yet untitled "The Wolverine 3" might be the last time he will don the adamantium claws.

However, after the premiere of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" the Australian actor seemed to have an epiphany. As the story of the X-Men gets a clean slate after "Days of Future Past" Jackman also has a complete reboot of his own, so to speak.

IGN chronicles his change of mind: "At one point, you're right, I said I was pretty sure [that 'Wolverine 3' would be my last outing in the role]. But I'm less sure as it goes along. Because after seeing this movie, the whole thing feels fresher to me than ever. And during this movie...I don't want to spoil anything, but it's kind of like a clean slate, so who knows where it's going to go. As long as I have the passion for it and the fans will have me."

Inquirer.net quoted Jackman's statements in a press conference for "Days of Future Past." It's a revealing breakdown of a recent cancer operation that he had.

"I hope this finally puts to bed those nice-guy rumors, all right? That's done." Laughing, he jested about who he just had a fight with. "I won't be doing any more press [tours] with Ian McKellen. That's it."

"I had a basal cell carcinoma taken out last night-that's skin cancer, but the most minor," explained Hugh. Although common and treatable, basal cell carcinoma recurs. "Unfortunately," he continued, "it happens more often [to people of English stock living in] Australia. Please tell [your readers] to get regular checkups. Thankfully, my doctors did, and that's how they found it. Also, wear sunscreen; don't be like me as a kid."

In that context, he gives his final message to his fans about Wolverine.

"It's important for me and for the audience to know that Wolverine is going to go in a different direction, to find another way to flesh out this great character," Hugh remarked, stressing the importance of the story and screenplay. "There are so many ways you can go with it but I'm not going to do them just for the sake of it-I love the character too much. I have too much respect for the fans to do that, so if I was a betting man, I'd say yes but it's not 100 percent because the script is not done."

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" will light up American theaters on May 23. "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27th, 2016, "The Wolverine 3" (not the official title) on March 3rd, 2017. Jackman is expected to star in all those titles.
