Harrison Ford Returns To Blade Runner Sequel? Have You Ever Retired a Human by Mistake?

Harrison Ford coming back to Blade Runner for the sequel? No, it's not a replicant. EMS-3 recombination notwithstanding. The storyline of the Blade Runner sequel is a closely guarded secret, but will certainly be set several decades after the Academy Award-nominated original, which took place in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

According to published reports, Blade Runner 2 producers invited Harrison Ford to return for the sequel. Ford has already agreed to return as Han Solo in Disney's Star Wars Episode VII.Nothing is worse than having an itch you can never scratch

According to Alcon executives Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson "We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honored, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project."

Alcon has been working on the Blade Runner sequel for more than three years. In 2011 they announced that they secured film, TV and ancillary franchise rights to produce Blade Runner prequels and sequels. Ridley Scott announced he will direct the Blade Runner sequel in August 2011.

Alcon Entertainment wants Harrison Ford to reprise his role as Rick Deckard in the upcoming "Blade Runner" sequel. The Blade Runner sequel will be directed by Ridley Scott, who helmed the original.

The Blade Runner sequel will be written by Hampton Fancher, who was the co-writer of the screenplay of the original1982 science fiction classic, and Michael Green.

Producers are keeping the Blade Runner sequel story a tightly guarded secret, but we know it will be set decades after the conclusion of the original Blade Runner, which took place in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

There was no reported response from Harrison Ford's people, but duringan "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit, Harrison Ford said  "I'm quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another. If it's a good script, I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again. He's a very talented and passionate filmmaker, and I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character."

Rutger Hauer played the leader of a group of escaped "replicants," which are genetically engineered androids, in the original. Harrison Ford's character is a "blade runner," a cop who kills replicants.

Blade Runner was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry in 1993.
