Matt Smith Would Return To 'Doctor Who' During 10th Anniversary Of Revival? Watch Lost River' Movie Trailer Before Season 8 Premiere!

As "Doctor Who" season 8 continues filming, former Doctor Matt Smith seems eager to return for another anniversary special.

“I love the idea of other Doctors coming back. Also that gives me the opportunity to come back, which I totally will by the way," said Matt Smith at the Calgary expo.

“I’m just waiting for the next anniversary. I spoke to Steven the other day and said ‘what’s the quickest one we can do?’”

For most Whovians, the closest possible anniversary would be the 10th anniversary of the revival of "Doctor Who," which would be 2015.

However, fans have mixed feelings about such a return with Matt Smith, and potentially other Doctors as well.

"If you've just spent the year celebrating the amazing 50th anniversary of the show, it would look a bit odd to overly celebrate 2 years later the 10th anniversary of a bit of the show, but maybe something more low-key could be done," wrote a commentator on DoctorWhoTV.

"Matt feeling more than a twinge of regret? I'm all for multi-doctor stories, believe me. But it can't be all the time. Should have stayed Matt, you could have beaten Tom Baker and kept on going, and nobody would have complained!" added Mike Falino on May 20.

Currently, Matt Smith is promoting his latest film directed by Ryan Gosling, "Lost River."

Previously titled "How to Catch a Monster," you can check out a trailer of it below:

Unfortunately, Matt Smith may want to return to "Doctor Who" more than ever, given that the film was booed at its Cannes Film Festival premiere.
