‘Harry Potter Spinoff’ [UPDATE]: ‘Gravity’ Director Takes The Helm Of ‘Fantastic Beasts?’ Daniel Radcliffe ‘Draws Line’ In Working With Former ‘Harry Potter’ Co-Stars

"Harry Potter" spinoff update has some good news as "Gravity" director Alfonso Cuarón is reportedly discussing with the studio of possibly helming the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Meanwhile, Daniel Radcliffe shot down any rumor of reuniting with his "Harry Potter" co-stars.

Nikki Finke, the former EIC of Deadline, broke the news on Monday through a tweet:

"I hear Alfonso Cuaron ('Gravity', 'HP/Azkaban') deep in talks to direct JK Rowling's Harry Potter spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts.' "Perfect pick."

This comes as no surprise considering J.K. Rowling's direct involvement as the screenwriter for the "Harry Potter" spinoff.

Leo Sun for Daily Finance wrote that Alfonso Cuarón and Terry Gilliam were the first choice of the author to direct the movie. The Oscar-winning "Gravity" director helmed 2004's "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban."

"Therefore, Gilliam or Cuarón could be Rowling's top choice to direct the new films," he said.

"In my opinion, Cuarón has a better chance of landing the job, considering his recent direction of Warner Bros.' Oscar-nominated film 'Gravity' and his previous work on 'The Prisoner of Azkaban,'" Leo Sun added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Daily Beasts, "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe denied reports that he is going to reunite with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint for the ride "Escape from Gringotts" in Universal Studios theme park in the US.

"I know nothing about that. They may very well be using existing footage that we'd already filmed for the movies, but I have had no calls or involvement in that," he said.

Daniel Radcliffe also revealed that he was asked to "do more stuff" for the theme park when he was younger.

"That was my moment to try and draw a line because that theme park is going to keep expanding ... and there's going to come a point where I'm going to be 30 years old, and if I was still doing that then, that would be a huge problem," he added.
