According to Fansided, the official synopsis for tonight's episode reads: "Vanessa has a vision leading her to discovering a vampire who is keeping a slave. Dr. Frankenstein has to face up to his past."

According to the Epoch Times, "Penny Dreadful," which stars Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, and Eva Green, is slated for an eight episode first season on Showtime.

Tonight's episode will "feature Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) being confronted by the demons of his past while Vanessa Ives (Green) has a vision of Mina (Olivia Llewellyn) that leads her, Sir Malcolm (Dalton), and Ethan Chandler (Harnett), and Sembene (Danny Sapani) to the London Zoo," the publication reports.

A new character will also be introduced: Fenton, a servant to a vampire master.

According to Futon Critic, the show is described by Showtime as: "In PENNY DREADFUL, some of literature's most famously terrifying characters - including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, all brilliantly reimagined in a whole new light - have become embroiled in Victorian London... Of the eight episodes, the first two will be directed by J.A. Bayona, who helmed 'The Orphanage' and the acclaimed film, 'The Impossible' starring Naomi Watts in her Oscar-nominated performance."
