‘Homeland’ Season 4 Spoilers: Damian Lewis Reflects On Brody Ahead Of Premiere Date; ‘Extremely Happy’ With Taking On Character But ‘Misses’ Claire Danes [VIDEO]

"Homeland" season 4 spoilers reveal that Damian Lewis, who played Brody on the Showtime series, is "extremely happy" with taking on the character but admits he misses Claire Danes as "Homeland" season 4 premiere date draws closer. Watch the video of the interview below!

TimesTalks sat down with Damian Lewis, who reflected on his character Nicholas Brody and his time spent on the set of "Homeland." According to Zap2it.com, New York Times theater critic Matt Wolf showed a clip from "Homeland," and Damian Lewis got emotional.

"I miss Danesy!" he exclaimed, referring to his former co-star Claire Danes. "I miss her! They'll be starting up again now."

Brody died at the end of "Homeland" Season 3, and now the show is entering a reset for the upcoming season 4. But Lewis  revealed he almost didn't join the show from the get-go.

"I was very reluctant to do to another TV show. In fact, this was sent to me by my American agent. He just said, 'Just read this one,'" Lewis said. His agent told him: "Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa are involved, they ran '24' for the last five or six seasons. Claire Danes is doing it, Mandy Patinkin is on board. This is the one that everyone's talking about. Just read it.

"I very nearly didn't do it, for personal reasons," Lewis admitted. "But there were just too many compelling reasons to do it, so I did and I'm extremely happy."

Lewis said about his previous character Brody: "The thing about Brody is he was a pawn in a larger game, and was burdened by having so many paymasters," he says. "It was hard for him to know who he was in any given situation."

Meanwhile, cast members are heading to South Africa to shoot scenes for "Homeland" season 4. As we previously reported, Mandy Patinkin, who plays Saul Berenson, revealed new spoilers to Access Hollywood about the South Africa filming location for the upcoming season.

"I'm about to go to South Africa for seven months," he told Access Hollywood. "We'll be based in Cape Town...we begin shooting [and it will last] all the way through November."

South Africa will double for Islamabad, Pakistan, showrunner Alex Gansa revealed.

"South Africa has a very big tax break," Alex Gansa said when asked about the new "Homeland" season 4 filming location, Variety reports.

"Homeland" season 4 is expected to premiere in October 2014.
