Elder Scrolls Online Review, Classes, Beta [NEWS]: Tamriel Infinium Success? A Feature Developers ‘Got Right’

Tamriel Infinium is a feature Elder Scrolls Online developers "got right," Joystiq writes in a review.

"Despite all my misgivings, ESO does compel me to log in for one main reason: the story. And not just the story but how well the characters are written and how the story is told," the website writes.

"The subject matter isn't bland and cliche. The characters are taken seriously, even when the story is humorous, regardless of gender or race. Although I cannot give you every example here, I would like to touch on a couple of the stories that exemplify what I mean by great storytelling in an MMORPG."

Elder Scrolls Online's Update 2 is currently on the public test server, Joystiq.com reports.

Craglorn is "proof that Elder Scrolls Online is growing up," IGN writes in a review of the game, leaving many gamers wondering if the new launch has been able to save the series from failure.

"The initial launch found the game wrestling over its identity as an MMORPG while attempting to honor its single-player origins; this, the first major content patch, sees it embracing its core multiplayer nature with open arms," the website writes.

"There's still a story to follow here featuring constellations that drop down from the sky and grant quests and dubious loot, but it never overpowers the overarching drive to buddy up with fellow adventurers and kick whatever asses need kicking."

Elder Scrolls Online developer Bethesda released a statement explaining the game's Playstation 4 and Xbox One delay-it has drawn a number of criticisms from next-generation console fans.

"We're not happy about it -- obviously we much rather have the console version out in June," Bethesda Vice President of Public Relations and Marketing Pete Hines said, according to CVG.

"But it seemed like the right thing to do, and we did spend a little time working with the console folks to try to come up with some kind of a thing so that the folks who couldn't play it could buy the PC version and then add a next-gen console version later for a lot less money. That seemed like something that was worth working on before we announced the delay."
