After rattling off four quality starts during the month of May to kick start his career in the Majors, Jacob deGrom allowed four earned runs on five hits in five innings in his last trip to the mound.

"You know, my stuff was good, I just struggled with command," deGrom said. "I fell behind a lot of people, had to pitch to them. That's pretty much sums it up."

The 25-year-old rookie will attempt to get back on track against the Brewers and Wily Peralta on Wednesday in New York. Peralta has had issues of his own at times in his last two outings.

The right-hander got the win in his last start, allowing four runs in five innings, coming off a start in which he went 5 2/3 innings while surrendering six runs. Nonetheless, his manager wasn't totally pleased with the performance in the win after Peralta had left a ball up in the zone for a grand slam in the third inning and walked three, according to MLB.com.

"Wily, as much as we like his stuff and his arm, he was all over again -- up in the zone," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "We need him to somehow get it down back in the zone and get some easy outs. He works really hard on every single batter, and you can't keep doing that."

Peralta needed 101 pitches to get through five innings in that start. He has quality starts in eight of his 12 outings this season, but has allowed 10 runs in his last 10 2/3 innings while walking five.

"I was trying to get it to the sixth," Peralta said of his last outing. "I was trying to work ahead in the count, pitching for contact, and I was able to make it at least to the fifth."
