Claudia Leitte’s Stunning World Cup 2014 Opening With Jennifer Lopez And Pittbull; Brazilian Singer ‘Thankful’ For ‘We Are One’ Opportunity

Claudia Leitte kicked off the World Cup 2014 opening ceremony with Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull as the Brazilian singer is reportedly thankful for the opportunity to perform "We Are One."

According to smh.com, more than 600 participants, "including acrobatic gymnasts, trampolinists, marshal arts-style capoeira performers and stilt walkers," made the pre-match ceremony a flamboyant extravaganza.

Although Claudia Leitte's stunning World Cup 2014 opening performance was a treat, the website said, "the centre of the show was a giant LED ball made up of more than 90,000 light clusters - one of few large-scale technical wonders in the event."

Children also released doves-the international symbol of peace-amid the chaos surrounding the World Cup 2014, as protesters carry on their demonstrations that oftentimes turn violent with the police and Brazilian government desperate to quell dissent, the AP reported.

Claudia Leitte's World Cup 2014 opening performance was marred by the opposition of Brazilians against the event, particularly the expenses which should have been reallocated to fight poverty, the media subscription agency added.

In the official website of FIFA, Claudia Leitte also weighed in on being the first Brazilian to sing the World Cup song.

"I've always said that I feel very honoured, thanks in the main to God and Pitbull. It all happened very quickly. He called me one day and said that FIFA already had the music and then he told me it had got the go-ahead," she said.

"It was a gradual process and I had time to take it all in and enjoy every moment. It's a very special day for me, like the day you get married, you know? That's how it feels to me, that feeling of butterflies in your stomach. I always feel like that before shows, but this one feels just like your wedding day. That's a good analogy, isn't it?" Claudia Leitte added.
