The Xbox 360 title was announced as part of the lineup of free games for Xbox Live Gold members for June 2014. It became available at the Xbox Live marketplace beginning June 1 for 0 Microsoft Point. Unfortunately, this free game can only be downloaded by Xbox Live Gold members until this coming Sunday, June 15.
In addition to Dark Souls, 2 free games for Xbox Live Gold members for June 2014 are currently available for download. Particularly, these 2 Xbox One games - "Max: The Curse of Brotherhood" and "Halo: Spartan Assault" are also part of Microsoft's Games With Gold program.
Halo: Spartan Assault is a "top-down third-person shooter video game released in 2013, according to its Wikipedia page. Meanwhile, Max: the Curse of Brotherhood is a platformer which features interesting puzzles.
Other free games for Xbox Live Gold members coming this June 2014 are Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition.
Meanwhile, the Xbox maker is also offering a treat for the non-Xbox Live Gold members. According to a post on Home Media Magazine, any users of Xbox 360 or Xbox One now have free access to more than 180 3rd-party content apps. The list of these apps include Netflix, ESPN, HBO GO, NFL, NBA Game Time, NHL Game Center, Machinima, Twitch and Upload, Univision Deportes and a lot more!

Before, Xbox users need to pay $59 for the Xbox Live Gold membership before they can access these third-party content apps.
