Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Android 4.4 KitKat Still Being Pushed But Very Slow Place; Roll Out Began Early May, Some Variants Not Getting New OS

Samsung Galaxy S3 update: The Android 4.4 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy S3 has already been made available since May, but according to Gotta Be Mobile it still has not received the massive push that many owners were expecting it to make in its first month.

The Android 4.4 KitKat has been available since November and it’s only around this time that it’s been hitting older Android smartphones and tablets. One of those devices that have been getting the update is the Samsung Galaxy S3, a device that is deemed one of the most popular of Samsung’s handsets.

The road to Samsung Galaxy S3’s update has been filled with interesting details. The device came with the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and received a huge boost with Samsung’s Premium Suite. It skipped Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean for Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and is now receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update. But some S3 users may not be receiving it at all.

The South Korean tech giant confirmed that the Galaxy S3 GT-i9300, its 1GB non-LTE model in particular, will not be receiving the update because of performance reasons. It will be a huge blow to the Samsung Galaxy S3’s prominence and it appears that Samsung is going to hold firm with its decision not to pursue the update for the unit.

There is, however, a lot of movement with the update arriving for other Samsung Galaxy S3 owners. The rollout of the company’s LTE-enabled Samsung Galaxy S3 models is not moving very fast and over the past month there hasn’t been a significant push that many expected.

It’s very possible that by July more updates will be made for Samsung Galaxy S3 owners in the U.S. and Australia. This month has been a slow season for new OS upgrades, but companies are joining the bandwagon in providing 4.4 KitKat to their customers.
