Miley Cyrus topless selfie is a nod to a classic comedy. I just hope that's Dippity Do in her hair and not the love stuff that coiffed  Cameron Diaz in There's Something About Mary. Miley Cyrus's topless selfie is also reminiscent of Jennette McCurdy, the iCarly star who made headlines with a near nude selfie that changed her career arc.

The pre-shower Miley Cyrus topless selfie is a tribute to Cameron Diaz in "There's Something About Mary," the 1998 gross out romantic comedy. And it shows Miley's still got her sense of humor. In case you forgot, in "There's Something About Mary" Cameron Diaz styles her bangs with, well, let's just call it a very intimate protein shake from Ben Stiller.

On Saturday, Miley Cyrus mimicked the earthy hair gel in a topless selfie she posted to Instagram. The Examiner speculated that the topless selfie may be way for Cyrus to show support of the Free the Nipple campaign that is making the rounds across America in an attempt to challenge traditional ideas about  nudity in media.

Before this, Cyrus made a reference to the Free The Nipple movement when she posed with a giant nipple back in December. Miley put the wrong hash tag on the photo and this might be kind of a do-over.

The Miley Cyrus topless selfie looks like it was taken with a colorful iPhone. Miley's covering up most of what she's got to offer and her exposed nipple is covered by a red cartoon octopus.

Cyrus is also sticking out her famous tongue, which is kind of like her logo at this point.

Free that nipple, Miley.
