Guns N Roses Reunion 2014: Duff McKagan Reunites With Axl Rose But Slash Downplays The Reunion Rumors! What Caused The Bad Blood Between The Band Leaders?

The Guns n' Roses reunion in 2014 might have a step forward because one of the original members has already mended his fences with Axl Rose.

Axl Rose, the original lead vocalist of the group, is the only original member that's still with the group. Duff McKagan, the original bassist, has reached out and joined Axl for some shows-not full on gigs but just a few songs.

This brought about the rumors that the group might actually have a reunion again. Fans spanning two generations got excited to see one of the modern superbands get together.

But Slash downplays the move. He claims that he is not affected by the development. From Teamrock: "What Duff does is what Duff does. It doesn't really concern me," said Slash. "Duff's relationship with Axl is different to mine. That call to me is just not going to happen."

The guitarist clarifies that he has nothing against Duff or his decision: "I don't judge Duff. He's cool. He just has a way more amicable, neutral relationship with Axl than I do."

Slash also has his hands full. He is scheduled to go on tour with Aerosmith this summer for multiple play dates that was dubbed 'Let Rock Rule.' They had a grand kick-off performance for the shows by playing a brief set at the Whisky in L.A.

Axl Rose, the other side of the clashing band leaders, told Billboard: "One of the two of us will die before a reunion. However sad, ugly or unfortunate anyone views it, it is how it is."

Of course, they are rock stars and they will use strong words. However, their conflict was not without basis. This story from Rose's former personal manager Craig Duswalt, as told to Music Enthusiast:

"About five years ago, Slash went to Axl's house one day, and Axl didn't want to see him.

That was even before the Hall of Fame snub. But Duswalt is hopeful:

"We [had] thought for a while yes [a reunion could happen], but then it just got ugly again and we thought, 'There's no way as they hate each other right now. It's bad... but Slash and him were so close. We all have a feeling it will happen. It's gonna happen in the next two years - there's an opening because of Duff playing with Axl."

Perhaps if the clamor is strong enough, Axl and Slash would be convinced. But it won't be easy.
