‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date News: George R.R. Martin Pokes Fun At Himself For Slow Output; ‘Game Of Thrones’ Author Jokes His Books Too Long To Read

George R. R. Martin has poked fun at himself for the slow "Winds of Winter" release date in a Funny Or Die skit. The author of "A Song of Fire and Ice" also said that a feature film (or two!) may be necessary for "Game of Thrones" once he's done with the books.

In Funny or Die skit titled "Gay of Thrones" where two gay friends recaps the "Game of Thrones" season 4 finale. George R. R. Martin makes a cameo at the end, reading a story to his fictional 10-year-old grandson.

Right at the moment when the two gay friends kiss, the author reads:

"Since the invention of kissing, there had never been a kiss this passionate, this fierce. It was in the throes of passion that Jonathan was surprised by a strange feeling in his stomach, like "Kombucha" gone wrong. Joffrey had thrust his knife dagger into Jonathan's stomach."

"Jonathan lay on the floor, alone, and gasping for life..." George R. R. Martin continued.

"What, why did you kill Jonathan? He was my favorite," his grandson said.

"I didn't say he was dead."

"Really? What happens next?"

"You have to wait for the next book."

"But I wanna hear it now!"

"Get off my back! You're gonna grow up to be King Joffrey!" George R. R. Martin added. "These things take time to write, there's 1500 pages long. Some people can't even read them."

George R. R. Martin's "Winds of Winter" release date is still in limbo yet HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones" is quickly gaining pace to catch up with the events in "A Song of Fire and Ice."

Editor Anne Lesley Groell said during a Q&A with fans published on Suduvu universe that although she has no idea about George R. R. Martin's "Winds of Winter" release date in "A Song of Fire and Ice" series, she said that they hope "to have it reasonably soon."

"When I have a date, you will have a date," she said in reply to a fan who wanted to know the George R. R. Martin's "Winds of Winter" release date.
