Jeremy Lin News: Star Point Guard Moving Over To Sixers? Philadelphia Will Get Harvard Standout Given Rockets Make The Deal 'Sweeter'

During the weekend, the most recent Jeremy Lin news is that the Philadelphia 76ers are interested in getting the star point guard. While they already have Michael Carter-Williams playing the one position, Lin can very much serve as a backup point guard or even a good fit in the two spot.

Right now, Lin is one of the major obstacles for the Rockets to get any one of the premier free agents this summer which include Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh and even LeBron James.

But now that the team favorites for Melo does not include Houston, they are already exploring other options such as Bosh and even Kevin Love.

But in order to do that, they should first be freed from the hefty final contract of Lin which amounts $15 million. Meanwhile, the Sixers expressed their interest in a trade-in deal, provided that the Rockets would include a 'sweetener' to the deal.

That sweetener could be anyone between several first round draft picks over the next couple of seasons, to the talented small forward Chandler Parsons, who by the way, is great friends with the Linsanity star.

Last week, the Rockets pitched their offer to Melo in a rather 'offensive' way - as far as Lin is concerned. The team showed Carmelo how he would look like in a Rockets uniform, with the number 7. That is also the management's move to assure Anthony that Lin will have to go if he decides to suit up for Houston.

In his two seasons with the Rockets, Lin's game slowly matured into becoming more of a reliable sixth man off the bench. His numbers were not stellar given the limited minutes he is used by coach Kevin McHale, though whenever he plays more than 20 minutes, more often than not, the Harvard standout manages to average close to 20 points a game.

Aside from Philadelphia, Golden State and Milwauke are also possible destinations for Lin in case Melo or Bosh signs for the Rockets.

However, this deal would still wait for a number of things: Melo's decision, James' decision, and Bosh's decision.
