‘The Conjuring’ Spinoff 'Annabelle' Release Date Confirmed! The Evil Doll That Haunts Your Nightmares Will Make Its Return Before Halloween!

"The Conjuring" spinoff "Annabelle" which will tackle the full story of that evil possessed doll that stole the scene in last year's scariest movie will now be showcased in a full-length feature. It will creep into back into your dreams right before Halloween!

While "The Conjuring" became a surprise summer hit, "Annabelle" will take a horror-friendly release date on October 3.

"New Line is moving forward with a spinoff of "The Conjuring," as Annabelle Wallis ("Peaky Blinders") and Ward Horton are set to star in the low-budget horror movie "Annabelle," TheWrap has learned.

John Leonetti, who served as the cinematographer on "The Conjuring," is directing from a script by Gary Dauberman. Peter Safran is producing, while "The Conjuring" director James Wan is among the executive producers."

Since Annabelle was already shown in the collection of Ed and Lorraine Warren, the origin story of Annabelle is assumed to be a prequel.

The story from Screenrant: "According to the Warrens' account, Donna inherited Annabelle from her mother and brought the doll with her to college. Donna and her roommate Angie soon began to find that the doll would move itself around the apartment, and later the paranormal manifestations escalated as they found notes with pleas for help around their apartment and one day found that Annabelle seemed to be oozing blood."

Cinema Blend notes that the October release date will find plenty of competition from the horror genre but it usually ends up favorable.

"Annabelle becomes the first out of the gate in a crowded field that includes Dracula Untold ,Paranormal Activity 5 (technically the sixth film following The Marked Ones) and Universal's found-footage Hasbro team-up Ouija. And that's not counting ABC's Of Death 2, which will probably get a much smaller release with a VOD platform."
