Barclays Premier League: Santiago Vergini back on Sunderland

Santiago Vergini was back on the side of the Sunderland once more. The said club brought back their centre-back on loan for the season.

The 26 year old Argentinian steps his foot back to the Stadium of Light after a previous loan spell was nodded in to from January. The man with the name Vergini played in 11 Barclays Premier League matches last season; he also got part of the Sunderland defence that helped the team recover fron being bottom of the table at Christmas to keep away from relegation. Vergini also tasted victory in four out of their final five fixtures, making sure to include winnings at Chelsea and Manchester United.

Declaring his delightful feeling at returning to the club, Vergini stated he was aiming to become a fixture at the heart of the Black Cats defence.

"The challenge for me is to become part of this team, and offer all I can so we have a good season," he said. "The feeling that I've had here at this club has been very good. It's a big club."

He is Sunderland's sixth signing of the summer transfer window. He followed the arrivals of Billy Jones, Costel Pantilimon, Jordi Gomez, Patrick van Aanholt and Jack Rodwell.

Sunderland have also announced that French defender El-Hadji Ba has joined Bastian on a season's loan.

Gus Poyet's side begin their BPL campaign at West Bromwich Albion on 16th of August.
