Harry Potter, All Grown Up: JK Rowling Conjures Up Hogwarts Wizard School Reunion In New Short Story; Pottermore Website Crashes As A Result

Harry Potter is all grown up as by JK Rowling conjured a school reunion for Hogwarts Wizard School that was posted on her website, Pottermore, and which crashed as a result.

JK Rowling's short story has around 1,500 words and it tells the story of Harry Potter all grown up, or in this case "about to turn 34."

The story was posted on the Daily Prophet by Rita Skeeter, the fictional newspaper's gossip correspondent. She describes Harry Potter as, "about to turn 34, there are a couple of threads of silver in the famous Auror's black hair, but he continues to wear the distinctive round glasses that some might say are better suited to a style-deficient twelve-year-old."

Aside from JK Rowling writing about Harry Potter all grown up, Ron and Hermoine also attended the 2014 Quidditch World Cup, along with the former boy wizard's wife, Ginny.

JK Rowling, writing as Rita Skeeter, wrote that Ron has not really aged gracefully as the "famous ginger hair appears to be thinning slightly."

When the author posted the story on Pottermore, the website crashed by the sheer number of fans trying to access it.

In a report by Mashable, the story "Dumbledore's Army Reunites" was posted on July 8 and helped brought down the site.

"Harry Potter fans will recall that Potter enlists fellow classmates in "Dumbledore's Army" (DA) for wizard training when the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry temporarily stops training them in 'Defense Against the Dark Arts,'" it said.

The website also said that the publication of JK Rowling's story about Harry Potter all grown up was no coincidence as it was timed with the opening of Diagon Alley at the amusement park of Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

"The Pottermore site recovered by 9:30 a.m. ET and Rowling's Rita Skeeter post should be viewable by most site visitors. You may, however, need a free account to read the Daily Prophet article," Mashable noted.
