NBA Free Agency 2014: Plan B's For Teams Who Don't Get James, Anthony

NBA Free Agency in 2014 is just over a week old, and yet a number of teams and thousands of NBA fans are already anxious about the results.

For teams which are currently looking to land either Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James, the bitter truth is that there are pretty slim chances of luring them out of their comfort zones.

For Melo, it is the cheer and money that New York can bring. He may not win it big time this year, but Anthony will be pretty sure to remain the Madison Square Garden's darling.

Meanwhile, James may be thinking of getting out of Miami, but let's face it - there are more reasons for him to stay than go. A dismal performance in the NBA Finals should be one of the mistakes the Heat can get over with - just like what the Spurs did a year ago, when they lost the title which the should have won in Game 6 of that series.

Chicago will certainly be left with a gaping hole in their roster once they let go of Carlos Boozer and fail to get Anthony. They can wait for another year and hope that the return of Derrick Rose would add that spark once more, and then eventually get Kevin Love who becomes a free agent next year.

Houston may already have their 'Big Three' of sorts with James Harden, Dwight Howard, and Chandler Parsons, but the addition of Melo will add more firepower to one of the best offensive teams in the league. If Melo is out of reach, Chris Bosh is another ideal option which can play with Howard at the same as a stretch four - his natural position.

The Lakers will be devastated not to get Anthony after that rather generous offer. Still, there is silver lining as Los Angeles can get decent role players instead to surround their aging superstar Kobe Bryant.

New York will not quit on Melo, though we are thinking the Knicks has Plan B's lineup already. Some of the decent prospects include Pau Gasol and Luol Deng, both of which have not yet agreed to any contract offered by suitor teams.

The Cavs are especially rooting to get LeBron back, but if they don't, no harm done. The team's young core composed of Kyrie Irving, and the past two first overall draft picks Anthony Bennet and Andrew Wiggins. Bennet has been disappointing at least for the Cavs, but he did perform well towards the end of the season.

Decisions will be crucial for every team as the future of their franchises rely on that.
