New Sony Phones 2014: Selfie-Centric Xperia C3 Debuts, Specs Incl. 5MP Front Shooter With LED Flash, Snapdragon 400, 1GB RAM, 8MP Rear Camera

Yesterday, we reported about one of the new Sony phones for 2014, which focuses on selfie features.

Now, the phone has been officially launched and will soon be available initially in China.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Sony Xperia C3 is a midranger that has slightly better specs than the competition.

The Android-powered device packs a 5.5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution. The screen is enhanced by Sony's BRAVIA Engine for better quality in images.

Inside the Xperia C3 runs a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 400 chipset. Handling the graphics is a decent Adreno 305.

While the phone is being pitched as a selfie smartphone, the Sony Xperia C3 still has an 8-megapixel shooter at the back and an LED flash. In front the device is a 5MP front camera that has an LED flash of its own, though Sony refers to it as 'soft flash' mainly because people who would use this camera would be only several inches away from the device.

While the front LED flash helps in lighting for selfies, it does not hurt the eyes with the traditional type of LED flash in most phones.

Camera phone technology has indeed become one of the most important aspects of any new smartphone, but with the Xperia C3, Sony brings a 5-megapixel front cam into a midranger, something we don't see too often these days.

In the report, the Sony Xperia C3 will support 3G and 4G connections, as well as LTE Cat4. Meanwhile, there is also another version of the device, dubbed the C3 Dual that features dual-SIM support as well as dual standby and dual calls.

The device is said to be available beginning in August, though pricing details and regions where it would be available were not yet mentioned.
