Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos Android KitKat Update: Dual Sim Variant Of Flagship’s Compact Version Get Much Needed OS Upgrade

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos Android KitKat update: The dual-SIM variant of the former flagship’s compact version, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos is now on the receiving end of the highly awaited Android 4.4 KitKat update. The OS upgrade applies for the handset with model number GT-I9192.

GSM Arena reports that though the handset is now being updated, it’s only rolling out to Russia. Users who purchased their Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos from that part of the world should get a notification soon about the new Android version. The tech site noted that after the update, the handset will have the software build I9192XXUCNG2.

It’s worth noting that Samsung seemingly continues to allow the single-SIM variant of the famous compact handset without the 4.4 KitKat update. The unit is still running on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Samsung posits the S4 Mini Duos as, “Minimalism maximized, the perfect mixture of the design and the performance.”

The S4 Mini Duos is a look-alike of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and bears the same features as the S4 Mini but is a dual-sim version. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD display, a dual-core processor, and the TW nature UX 2.0 on top of its Android 4.2.2 software.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini was officially announced May last year and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini has succeeded the variant.

The unit is much love and boasts a loyal following, just like the Samsung Galaxy S3 and its mini-version, the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.

A quick look on Amazon.com shows that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Duos is for sale at $292.99 for an unlocked international GSM variant. Though the device and its OS is attractive in many ways it directly competes with other compact handsets and budget-friendly Android devices.
