Amazon Fire Phone: First Smartphone Ad Reveals Amazon Is Really Selling Something Else

The Amazon Fire Phone is the very first smartphone from the retailer giant, and with it comes a ton of features and some cool specs that will make any tech-savvy person giggly and excited.

After a few weeks since it was announced, Amazon has released its first promo ad for the Fire Phone so that people would be more informed about the device's specs and features, and decide whether to get it or not.

However, apparently, Amazon has other things in mind when they made this clip.

In the supposed promo ad for the smartphone, two kids were discussing the various media content they have on their Fire Phones, which were bought through Amazon Prime.

The two then discusses how the Fire Phone comes with Amazon Prime out of the box. It is a premium service for Amazon users that includes free shipping and video streaming of products bought online.

And then just before the ad ends, you remember that this was supposed to be an ad for the smartphone. The entire clip did not mention any of the phone's specs and features. Even the 3D rendering in some images which are based on the viewer's line of sight or nowhere to be found in the ad.

Is it because the Amazon Fire Phone is not decently spec'd? Of course not. The phone packs a 4.7-inch display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 800 chipset. It also boasts a 13MP primary camera that can 'identify' million of products through the built-in app Firefly.

So as far as features are concerned, the Fire Phone is a truly capable device. It is truly disappointing for people waiting for this device to get new bits and details about it through promo ads, and getting absolutely nothing in this first ad.

Amazon is indeed aiming to sell something else, but giving focus on a feature that is supposed to be a freebie (Prime) rather than the main device (Fire Phone) is indication that it may not be interested in selling the phone at all - as long as people subscribe to their premium service.
