Godzilla 2 Monsters: Mechagodzilla Not Joining Sequel Despite Mothra, Rodan, And King Gidorah Being Confirmed: Legendary Confirms King Kong Sequel With Skull Island

After the success of "Godzilla" 2014, it seems Toho is granting the rights of three additional monsters for Gojira to fight.

According to Liberty Voice, "Godzilla 2" will also bring forth Mothra, Rodan, and King Gidorah as monsters.

Given that these are three major monsters in the "Godzilla" canon, it is shocking that Mechagodzilla is not making an entrance as well. But so far, there's been no news confirming the kaiju alongside the other monsters.

"Gareth's filmmaking talent makes him one of his generation's most creative and visionary directors," said Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.

"The plan has always been for Gareth to direct a different film before we started on another 'Godzilla,' but who knew it would be a 'Star Wars' installment? We have a great plan in store for 'Godzilla' fans and I am looking forward to seeing Gareth's imprint on the 'Star Wars' universe."

Meanwhile, Legendary Pictures will also be launching a reboot to Peter Jackson's "King Kong" with "Skull Island."

“If Guillermo did King Kong, that would be great," said Jackson according to Comic Book Resources. "That would be fantastic. I’ll be there on the first day, and will help him with anything he needs. I’ve always wondered, if in my lifetime, whether we’re going to see The 'Lord of the Rings' film remade, or 'The Hobbit' remade. How long will it actually last or survive until someone remakes it? It will be interesting to see. But with Kong, we were the ones who remade it for the third time.”
