Allison Williams Is NBC’s New Peter Pan And Not Everyone Is Happy; Some Say Brian Williams Daughter Can’t Sing; Allison Williams Says Girls Singing Was Acting

Allison Williams is NBC's new Peter Pan and some people are wondering whether her father, Brian Williams, will make a cameo. Others are saying that the new Peter Pan got her chance to sing when she was playing Marnie on "Girls," and that she doesn't have the voice for it.

The casting choice forPeter Pan in NBC's musical production of Peter Pan has fans split.

Allison Williams will star as the forever young boy wonder in NBC's live musical production of the classic Peter Pan stage show opposite Christopher Walken who will co-star as Captain Hook.

"We couldn't be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan," said NBC chief Robert Greenblatt.

Tell that to Tyler Coates, who took to Twitter to say he was not at all happy, tweeting "Allison Williams does nothing for me. Allison Williams does nothing for everyone."

In a press statement, Allison Williams said "I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true. It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team. And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"

Well some point to Williams YouTube clips of the songs "Take Me Or Leave Me" or "Building a Mystery,"  from the HBO series.

Williams says, duh, she was acting. She told Entertainment Weekly "I made the choice pretty early on, just in terms of maintaining my own sanity, to not try to make Marnie a very studied, exacting singer. Or trained, really. And I'm someone who took voice lessons for many, many years, so in making that decision, it sort of took the pressure off of me to sing perfectly."

Lena Dunham who stars on HBO's series "Girls" took to Twitter to congratulate her co-star Williams, tweeting "Allison is about to undertake one of the greatest drag roles in history and we are so proud we could burst. She will slay."

Williams graduated from Yale University in 2010. S, Williams starred as Marnie Michaels on HBO's Emmy-nominated series "Girls." She also sang on the "Girls" soundtrack and appeared in the show's viral videos. Williams also appeared on such TV shows as the comedy "The Mindy Project" and "The League."

Peter Pan will be telecast on NBC on Dec. 4.
