Motorola Moto X+1 Release Date, Rumors, Price, Specs, And New Leaked Photos, Also Called Moto X2, Rumored To Come With Wood Or Leather Back, To Be Released Alongside Moto 360 Smartwatch [PHOTO]

The Moto X+1 release date is coming soon, as photos continue to be leaked online.

Android Police obtained the photos of the Moto X+1 which allegedly showed the handset in the final stages of production, featuring a wooden back.

If compared to the previous Moto X, the X+1 will be slightly larger than its predecessor. The photo also showed what seems like a customized wooden back, which hinted that customers can freely customize their Moto X2 smartphones at the Moto Maker.

The photo also showed that the Moto X2 or Moto X+1 will feature aluminum edges instead of the plastic material used to previous handsets. Aside from the slight changes in the design, the Moto X2 form factor was inspired by original Moto X.

Although Motorola has not made an official announcement yet, Moto X+1 is expected to be unveiled in August. Likely in conjuction with the release of the Moto 360 smartwatch.

We first heard about this next Motorola device in April this year via a tip from @evleaks. He told us the 'Motorola Moto X + 1′ was coming soon. Shortly afterwards, we got a clue as to the possibility of leather backplate options.

Then in May, we saw a published product page on Motorola's official website. Not only did we see a $400 price tag for the device, but the page was named Moto X+1 for AT&T. So it would seem Motorola has essentially confirmed the name of the device and maybe even the price.

Besides a 1080p display, the release window is really all we know about the upcoming Moto X+1. It was at the start of this year, during the Mobile World Congress event, that we learned about this. Someone asked a Motorola representative when the Moto X+1 would be released and they were told 'by the end of the summer'. The end of summer is coming, but Motorola has still managed to keep the exact timing of the release under wraps.

Motorola's upcoming Moto X+1 could have wood and leather backs. According to photos sent by a tipster to AndroidPolice, the supposed Moto X+1 resembles the Moto X in shape and features layout, and also comes in a customizable wood back. As this is probably a MotoMaker phone, it has leather and plastic backs too.

A plastic Motorola logo is set into the wood back, while the camera above the logo has two LED flashes.

There is no way to verify that the phone that AndroidPolice shows is really the Moto X+1, or just a mock-up.

Recently, Motorola was awarded a trademark for the name Moto Maxx. Since the Moto X+1 is slated for an August release, according to rumors, and given the timing of the trademark, it could be that the Moto Maxx is the Moto X+1.
