iPhone 6 Rumors: The 5.5" iPhone Tipped To Get Better Specs Than 4.7" Version, 2 iPhones Will Most Likely Become Rivals

Since the start of the year, we have been hearing and reading about iPhone 6 rumors, especially with regard to its display size.

Previous reports have already confirmed that Apple's newest smartphone will get two versions - a 4.7-inch edition and a 5.5-inch version which is certainly within the phablet category already.

However, for the past few months only the 4.7-inch edition has been tipped to launch at the same time the iPhone 5s was launched last year which is mid-September.

Apparently, the 5.5-inch version will arrive some time later according to analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, and the most probable period of launch and release would be late November or early December.

That means the two versions will not only get different screen sizes, but different release dates as well. However, it looks like Apple wants to add more differentiation between the two.

According to a report by AppleInsider, Cowen & Co. analyst Timothy Arcuri noted that Apple's supply chain sources tipped the bigger iPhone to be better in specs compared to the 4.7-inch variant.

One of the expected specs of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 is a chipset faster than the A8 chip which is expected to be present on the 4.7-inch iPhone 6.

In the report, the Cupertino manufacturer could even manufacturer the two chipset versions in two different facilities.

Even before it is launched next month, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is already gearing up to become the most sold Apple smartphone ever. And rightfully so, competitors are preparing their own bets as well.

Xiaomi recently launched its latest flagship, the Mi4, while Samsung is preparing its first ever metal-clad smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy Alpha.

Apple should be ready when it launches the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 smartphones. However, as both phones are premium-built and come with different dimensions, spec sheets, and price tags, we certainly would not be surprised if a sibling rivalry takes place.
