Samsung Galaxy S3 users can now install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on their smartphone.

A new custom firmware based on Google's latest mobile operating system has been released, allowing the Samsung Galaxy S3 owners to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on their handset device.

According to the list of specs reported on GSM Arena, the latest and official update made available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. But thanks to custom ROM developers, a firmware based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat update is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Particularly, users can install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy S3 using the CyanogenMod firmware or the CM11 M9 ROM. The firmware is available for the GT-I9300 model of Samsung's 2012 flagship device only.

According to a report on International Business Times, the new CM11 M9 custom ROM available for the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 is based on Android Open Source Project or AOSP version 4.4.4 KitKat OS. The post further reads, "it is said to bring customization options to boost device performance, new visual interface, easy access to key apps and lots of personalization options."

But prior to proceeding with the installation process, there are some requirements to satisfy first.

Make sure that the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 has 80 percent battery level or more before installing Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.

Install the appropriate USB drivers of the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 on the computer so the Android device will easily connect with the PC during the process.

Make a backup of the data and settings stored on the Samsung Galaxy S3 using ClockWorkMod or TWRP.
