2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions: LA Lakers Need Small Forward! Francisco Garcia Or Michael Beasley Are Remaining Options; Which One Will Make The Lake Show?

The 2014 NBA Free Agency Rumors & Predictions are whittling down to the last roster spots. The LA Lakers still have holes to fill, and it might be a toss up between Michael Beasley and Francisco Garcia.

A little background on Garcia, who is only notorious with Laker fans because of his tussles with Kobe Bryant:

ESPN LA: "The Lakers have been in contact with Francisco Garcia's representative, according to a league source. There is 'mutual interest.'

Silver Screen and Roll:

"A longtime member of the Kings, Garcia was traded to the Rockets this past season in the deal that also included his teammate Thomas Robinson. This offseason, both have become recipients of the Rockets' relentless drive to clear cap space for their pursuit of Dwight Howard this offseason, as Garcia's team option was declined and Robinson was recently traded to Portland."

Meanwhile, Michael Beasley was a beast in college and that propelled him to becoming a high 2nd overall pick right behind Derrick Rose in a talented 2008 Draft class. He has yet to live up to those expectations and it's safe to say that he never will. But he does show flashes of brilliance when he is focused. That means he usually isn't.

Still, the Lakers are willing to take chances, and now is the best time since they really have nothing to lose. Besides, Beasley has been on their radar.

ESPN LA:

"This isn't the first time the Lakers have expressed interest in the 6-foot-10, 235-pound small forward. The Lakers attempted to trade for Beasley twice during the 2011-12 season, when he played for the Timberwolves, but both deals fell through, the second just minutes before the trade deadline expired.

Beasley would give Los Angeles some added depth at the small forward position. Wes Johnson, who re-upped for another season with the Lakers this summer, is the only true 3 on their roster."

The debate boils down to a lukewarm but sure thing compared to a surprise or a disaster. Let's see which path the Lakers decide on.
