Acer C720 Chromebook Review, Specs: Chrome Laptop Features Intel Celeron Processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD; One Of The Cheapest Laptops To Date

Acer C720 Chromebook review, specs: Powered by a Intel Celeron processor, the Acer C720 Chromebook runs on Chrome OS and sports a 2 GB RAM, and a 16 GB SSD (100 GB Google Drive cloud storage free for 2 years)—not the best specs in the market, but definitely one of the cheapest at around $229.

Overall, the Acer C720 Chromebook is not that bad. It has a longer battery life, more diverse applications, and new Chrome OS software. Admittedly, it is not the kind for video editing or intense gaming. Still, with a surprising low price, does it deliver to be an everyday laptop?

Not only is it cheap, but it is portable as well. With only a thickness of .75 inches and a weight of only 2.76 pounds, the top of the Acer C720’s light body is made of matte gray plastic, while its back is all black. Although it is plastic, it feels solid and premium enough to be held in one hand without squeaking.

Its 11.6-inch LED screen has a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels—not a Full HD, but still with a high pixel density. Although many critics complained and said that its display looked slightly washed out, Laptop Magazine still found it "sharp enough for viewing photos, reading text and streaming video."

Under the hood, Ars Technica said that it gives "you an impressive amount of computing power for your hard-earned bucks,” and its Haswell chip allowed the Acer C720 to "deliver outstanding battery life," according to Computerworld.

One drawback of this laptop is its operating system: the Chrome OS. There is no way that you can run programs like the Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office, desktop games, or even Skype. On a positive note, the Chrome OS keeps your laptop safe from viruses and malicious wares.

In the Notebook Review bench test, the website said, “A user’s battery performance will likely vary depending on the types of work or media they are using, but generally it performed well. The 3-cell lithium polymer battery on the C720 is listed at 8.5 hours for normal use.”

Overall, for $229, the Acer C720 Chromebook provides a very portable body with a sound OS. It is recommended for those who use laptops for less extensive purposes.
