Cleveland Cavaliers Roster: Cavs Not Done Yet With Free Agency? Trying To Get Veteran Shawn Marion?

After all the current improvements and future upgrades of the Cleveland Cavaliers roster this off-season, LBJ's team is not done yet.

After the tirumphant return of superstar LeBron James, and a few acquisitions which include shooters Mike Miller and James Jones, the Cavs may be looking to upgrade on the defensive end this time.

According to a report by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, 36-year-old veteran Shawn Marion went to Cleveland on Monday for the usual recruitment process for free agents.

Marion is coming off a five-season stint with Dallas, wherein he mostly played the stretch four spot to open up the interior. His numbers have seen a slight dip over the past few seasons, though he still averaged 10 points and 6 rebounds a game last season.

It is a common thinking around the league that the Cavs will get Love from the Wolves by the end of this month, and while the 25-year-old power forward is an elite rebounder and scorer, he isn't that good enough on the defensive end. That is one practical reason why Marion is already in talks with Cleveland.

Marion can not only guard multiple positions, but also have the experience to lead a second unit once James hits the bench to rest. James can only do so much on the court, but when he needs to rest, someone has to take over, and while that does not necessarily mean take over on the offensive side, keeping the opposing team from scoring is a vital factor.

However, aside from the Cavs, Indiana is also reportedly trying to lure Marion to get back the firepower it has lost after Paul George went down with an injury in a Team USA skrimmage last week.

While the Cavs have LeBron and a sure-win mantra to offer, the Pacers have more cap space to offer a better deal for Marion. Let's see where the veteran forward will join for the upcoming season.
